Mandra Pictures Announces Psychological Thriller INSTALLATION

ATLANTA – Mandra Pictures will begin filming the psychological thriller, Installation, in Atlanta and Macon, Georgia in April 2014. The film will be directed by Chad Darnell, based on his screenplay. The film will be produced by Patrick Murray, Cynthia Fritts Stillwell, Kathy Weiss, Terrell Sandefur and Chad Darnell.
The film will star international star Jo Weil (Germany’s hit soap, Verbotene Liebe). The film will mark Weil’s American feature film debut. Weil currently stars on Verbotene Liebe as “Ollie Sabel,” a beloved gay character, who has found fans all over the world. Weil has a very large American fan base as well and was recently voted one of the “Hottest Men” by readers of After Elton.
The thriller revolves around the deadly consequences after “Charlie Cooper” (Jo Weil) and “Jackson Garner” (Chad Darnell) open their long-term relationship up for one evening with a stranger. More casting will be announced soon.
Mandra Pictures has launched a website for the film (www.installationmovie.com), allowing actors interested in auditioning for the film to submit taped reels from sides of the script. As part of the film’s Indiegogo Campaign, donors who support at a level of $20 or more will receive access to a special “members only” section of the film’s website, where they can watch incoming audition tapes from potential actors, as well access behind the scenes videos and pictures from all stages of production.
“We want our supporters to really feel like they are part of our team. This is the new brand of filmmaking. This is not about ego. This is about collaboration. We want their input on casting and even down to suggestions on wardrobe. It’s a way for them to be actively involved in the making of a movie,” said Cynthia Fritts Stillwell, producer and casting director for the film. “So many times when we donate to a crowd-sourcing project, we get a hat and that’s it. We want to share every step of our journey.”
Mandra’s first feature film, Birthday Cake is currently playing film festivals all over the country and has won numerous awards including “Best Comedy Film” and “Best First Feature Film” for writer/ director, Chad Darnell at Out on Film in Atlanta; “Best Comedy Film” at the Kansas City Gay and Lesbian Film Festival; “Fan Favorite Best Film” at Cinema Diverse in Palm Springs, California; and “Best Film (Programmer’s Choice)” at Fort Worth International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.
Mandra’s web series Project: Phoenix (starring Sherilyn Fenn, Lee Meriwether, Ian Roberts, and Susan Blakely) will be released in February 2014. The series follows a black ops organization assembled to create an anti-viral in order to stop a zombie apocalypse.
Mandra Pictures expects to begin production on the much anticipated Joey Stefano biopic, X-Rated in Atlanta and Los Angeles in Summer 2014. The film follows the lives of the infamous “porn brat pack” of the early 90s and the death of porn star, Joey Stefano.
