Yes, I was arrested, handcuffed and taken to jail and here’s the mugshot to prove it. I’ve heard this mugshot has been “passed around more times than a joint at an Allman Brothers concert.” There has been much speculation & many wild rumors as to why this occurred. My arrest was no fault of the Macon Police Department. I was handled by 2 different police officers – both of whom were extremely respectful of me.
For those of you who have not already heard the true story, here it is:
Kim & I took our kids to the Redskins/Falcons game in Atlanta last Sunday. On the way home to Macon, I was pulled over for speeding. My wife was burning up with fever and I was well exceeding the speed limit trying to get her home and medicated. (Truth be told, I would have been speeding regardless as I am a Speed Racer – I need to work on that as it doesn’t set a responsible example for my 15 year old twins who will be driving soon.) 
After the police officer ran my license, he came back to my car and said that there was a warrant for my arrest for failure to appear in court. I knew this to be false information but the officer had his orders. He handcuffed me and put me in the back of the police car and took me to the Macon jail. They “processed” me and a few hours later I was released after my wife bailed me out. The next morning I went to the Solicitor’s Office to find out why I had been arrested. REASON: One night in 2012, I received two citations, I paid both citations within days of receiving them. The Solicitor’s office overlooked documenting the payments properly…they only documented that ONE of the citations were paid. Clearly an oversight on their part. Mistakes happen but the Solicitor’s office has been extremely helpful in making everything right. They overturned the conviction Monday morning and got the bond refunded to my wife. They are still attempting to get the mugshot removed from Mugshots.com.
I can now scratch “going to jail” off my bucket list .. been there, done that. And at the end of the day, it will make for a good story that I never thought I would ever be able to tell. Ultimately, the arrest leaves me with some “Breaking Bad” street cred and a killer mug shot!
